When deciding which CT Medicare insurance broker to work with ask yourself these three things.

What does this mean?
Independent vs captive agent :
As a general rule a captive agent is appointed and represents only one particular carrier, i.e., United, Aetna and so on. While they should have a great deal of knowledge, they are only capable of advising and offering the best plan the company they represent has for you.
Independent Medicare brokers can be appointed to represent any number of carriers they wish. Offering many options or even every possible option available to you based on the county you live in. This means that rather than representing a particular company an independent broker can offer un-biased information and options, giving you the best chance for the perfect match.
All Medicare Insurance brokers must go through federal, state and carrier training each year before they are certified ready to sell for the upcoming calendar year. CMS has very strict rules to protect Medicare beneficiaries to ensure they are getting help from someone knowledgeable.
